This section will include ideas about how people can apply their skills and time for tiger conservation. If the opportunities arise, there may be occasional advertisements for voluntary positions or work experience.

Translator needed

The Sundarbans Tiger Project has made “The Forest Department’s Sundarbans Handbook”. It is packed full of information that will be useful for anyone working in the Sundarbans, although it will also be interesting for most people that visit. It includes basic biology of tigers, their general behavior an the threats thy face. It has a large section on recognizing various field sign and how to record data using the maps, measuring tapes, compasses and Geographical Positioning Systems. The book was written for free, the design, illustrations and layout were done for free, and the publication costs are generously being covered by an eco-tourism venture (Guide Tours LTD) so that the book can be distributed to all the forest guards for free. My Bangla falls way short of being able to translate it from the English text so we desperately need someone to do that so we can get it out to the forest guards as soon as possible. We have no money for the translation so whoever undertakes the task will have to take sustenance from the knowledge that they are helping tiger conservation. The book is not long – about 13,000 words. Any offers are greatly appreciated, it would probably take about 4-5 days of solid work to get it done. Please contact barl0048@umn.edu .

hello all,
i am new to this, so please if i make a mistake correction will be most welcomed and helpful!

while i was on on holiday i was watching the news channel Al jazeera.
Were i saw disturbing scenes of villagers killing an innocent tiger that had staryed into a house out of fear from the people! while we sat in awe and watched the locals butcher the poor creature to death, the local police were there too blowing they're whistles like cave people and forming a circle around the corpse of the dead animal!

After watching this we were soo angry and disturbed we started cursing the bangladeshi people aswell as the government.

what drew my attention to this alot was the fact local people lacked knowledge of tigers and why the government hadn't provided a safe haven for these magnificent and endangered animals.

I have family members who are close to certain MPs in Bangladesh, i was wondering with the help of STP and other similar project/organisations we should create a sanctuary or a reserve for these animals!

Not only raise awareness but actually physically help the tigers, capture and reloacate even! as enthusiastic as i may seem to sound, i know this might not be reality but im sure through the correct channels somthing can be done to save these creatures that represent Bangladesh (not those savage ignorant local villagers, who i swear if i had a sub machine gun would've felt pain).

I am looking forward to the response i will get for this post... if i have made any sort of mistakes/errors please correct me.

Thank You for reading

Mo
